Dental Hypomineralization - Raine Syndrome
Summary: Raine Syndrome is a breed-specific disorder related to the mineralization of bone, a simple mutation disrupting the protein that aids in strengthening the bone during its development. Dogs with Raine Syndrome typically will have significantly weakened teeth that may be more prone to wear, breakage, or discoloration. It can be a painful condition, which often manifests early in the dog’s life.
Screening: Genetic screening is available through several genetic labs, leading to prevention of the disease being easily achievable. This disease is a simple recessive, where two copies of the gene produces an affected dog
